Operational Amplifier Half-Supply Generator

Circuit Description

Graph image for Operational Amplifier Half-Supply Generator

Circuit Graph

This circuit uses an operational amplifier to generate an output equal to one half the power supply voltage. The resistor network at the noninverting terminal divides the power supply voltage by 2. The divider junction is bypassed by a capacitor to attenuate the ripple present in the power supply. This is then buffered by an op amp voltage follower. The resistor from the output to the inverting terminal is just for bias-balance compensation and may not be needed in newer op amps. This circuit is a simple buffer but I created this for reference and comparison with other forms of half-supply generator.
